In this activity, students imagine the distant futures of Planets X and Y, after the descendant of Earthling explorers have adapted through variation and selection.

ACTIVITY OVERVIEW
Discuss Planet X and Planet Y (20 minutes)
Write about how humans would adapt to different environments (20 minutes)
Divide the class into small groups of no more than four students.
Assign Planet X or Planet Y to each group.
Each group reviews the environmental conditions of their assigned planet, making notes in the space provided.
Next, students look at the list of human features and consider what adaptations might have occurred in order to allow for the traveling humans to thrive in their new environments.
Students fill in the information in the space provided on the page.
